American WayLarry Wan An American, on a visit to UK, boarded an Edinburgh bound train from London. As luck would have it, the train was overcrowded and he couldn't get a seat. So he decided to try his luck in a different compartment. The condition in the second compartment was no better than the first, but he noticed something very strange. A middle aged fat lady was occupying a window seat while the next seat was being occupied by a pekinese dog. Upon inquiring he found out that the dog belonged to the fat lady. The American asked the lady to put the dog on her lap so that he would be able to sit, but to no avail. After repeated requests the lady refused to put the dog on her lap, so the American gentleman grabbed the dog and threw it out of the window. Angered by this act, the lady started hurling abuses at the American tourist. When the heat had finally subsided, an old Englishman who had seen the events unfurling before his eyes, finally remarked, "You Americans are very funny. You drive on the wrong side of the road. You eat with the spoon in the wrong hand, and now by jove, you have thrown the wrong bitch out of the window!" |
