Saw a few pretty decent movies recently:
(1) The siege---pretty cool movie. "Ronin" it is not.
(2)Enemy of the state---much better than I expected, I enjoyed watching it. "The
Spanish prisoner" it is not.
(3)Elizabeth---very bit as good as I expected. This film has drama, intrigue, romance,
action and history. It started where " the young Bess" left off---a BW movie
starring Jean Simmons and Steward Granger. Dear Lighters, you may have seen this BW flick
as a kid, where young Bess's very young brother ( 10 or 11 years old) was the King of
England. Bess was involved with a married admiral whom the young king beheaded. The modern
" Elizabeth" began where Bess was now 23 years old, her half sister Mary was the
Queen of England. Bess again got involved with a married man, perhaps, following her
father's footstep of having very romantic inclinations ( Henry VIII was her father). Bess
eventually became Elizabeth I, and the British empire flourished under her rules. Four
hundred years later, you and I witnessed the coronation of Elizabeth II. Things certainly
have changed for this Queen.
