It was nice to hearing from Louis K. K. Lee the
other night, furnishing me the latest on the 40th re-union book. He said that Peter Tong
has received twenty-five entries so far. I don't know whether there was a 35th publication
or not; but the earlier ones from '65 and '79 definitely got more inputs. The first one
has forty-three articles from twenty-four
Lighters. Tony Kwok led the list with five pieces. Other active web-site writers
contributed two or more. The second one has ninety-one returns of the forms, with some
family pictures, and short essays. Following the established trend (excluding the 35th),
one should expect the 40th with considerable more than twenty-five. The people signing up
for the re-union stands at seventy-one, and slowly creeping up. I am confident most of us
will show up in Toronto this coming August. I hope more Lighters will change from readers
to writers for at least once. It is not hard to write something from the past forty years.
I don't believe our lives are that uneventful. To have such a long steady-state without
time dependent changes is possible, but not probable for any Lighters! To give an example,
just make a list of children's schooling, changing car-makes throughout the
years, moving from places to places,...etc. will result interesting readings for all.
Lighters, there is only one 40th re-union for all of us, please do write to Peter Tong
right away to make the book thicker. Quantity first, and quality will follow naturally. We
like to see more than the regular web-site contributors participate with whatever media he
or she chooses. We have such a pool of talents to produce the 40th re-union book.
