PSP ---a mushroom extractMay Mei Chen |
I read with interest on all the discussions about the "snow lotus". About a year ago, my mother was found with several "ill defined mass" in her lung, the biopsy was inconclusive, the surgeon wanted to operate just to be sure. To our relief, mother refused, she was 85 years old at the time, she knew that kind of surgery takes a lot out of a person and since the doctors were not even 100% sure that it was cancerous (although they all thought that it was), it really is not something that we want her to go through unless it's absolutely necessary. It so happened that one of my sisters has a friend who's doing research at the University of Hong Kong on the anti-tumor effect on one of the mushroom extract called PSP. However all the research I could find on PSP was done with either radiation or chemotherapy, but mother would want none of that, she only wanted to take the PSP alone. To our amazement, after 6 month on PSP, not only they couldn't find any trace of tumor on her X-ray, the calcium deposits that she had for years were also completely disappeared. Although we are all happy to hear about the result, but since it's sort of like a miracle, we wanted her to check it again in another 6 months, and if the scan is still clean, then we really have something to celebrate. Since my mother started taking the PSP, I don't know whether it's the psychological effect or if it really is the curing power of that PSP, she said she has been feeling really well, and it not only boost her energy level, her gray hair has started turning black again and that her skin is as smooth as it can be, no deep wrinkle at all, amazing! (I can testify to it, I saw her last X'mas, she looks great.) For those who are interested, PSP, (Polysaccharide-peptides) is extracted from the Yun Zhi mushroom (Cov-1 strain of Coriolus versicolor), the fungus looks like cloud, thus the name, it is similar to the Krestin (PSK) which the Japanese has been using for years. However, according to the literature, the anti-tumor effect of PSP is far more potent than that of PSK and on top of that, it also has an anti-oxidant effect, may be that's the reason why my mother is looking younger and younger. I was told that some rich folks in Hong Kong has been taking it as a nutritional supplement so as to stay young and healthy, so I guess that must have something to it. The reason I am writing this is because when I read about all the hassle one has to go through to make those snow lotus and other fungus drink, and if the PSP can do the same thing, why not just buy the pills. Although you cannot buy it here in the US, but you can get it in HK and better yet, get it directly from Shanghai. (PSK is available in the US.) Come to think of it, may be I should starting taking it also, I can certainly use some energy booster.
