Chit Chat # 31Count-down to The 40th Re-union Bob Chen |
The time's arrow stops for nobody. It is only four months to our 40th re-union. Most of us did not see each other for the full span of forty years. There were some exceptions to some of you who went to the 25th, 35th, and other mini-re-unions locally. It is not easy to sign-up more than seventy of the one hundred forty Lighters after two scores of years. Thanks to the hard work of Gina, Steve, and Peter for arranging the resort, dinner party, cruise, and editing the 40th re-union year-book. Tony's web-site does more than its share of advertising, information transfer. S.S. jumps in all the time to keep the information highway flowing. Anyone who surfs the San Francisco Pui Ching Alumni Association sub-pages will testify to the superior quality of our web-site. True, that we have no celebrities those from classes of '55, '57, and '68. We do have a well balanced core group of Lighters that write in English, and Chinese with either straight typing or fancy calligraphy; paint with all kinds of media (i.e, water-color, pencil, brush and ink, pastel, oil...); shoot photoes that are travel snap shots or artistic saloon quality sunset, window-view of a bridge, still life; jokes that lighten our daily chores; puzzles that tease our brains; in-depth discussions on herb medicines that we need. In short, we should be proud of ourselves in the collective deeds we did in the last two years, we shall try our utmost to meet in Toronto, and renew the friendship that started in '59 or before. Time's running out, and we are not getting younger! |
