In the 1950s, there was "To catch a thief ", with Grace Kelly, Cary Grant and
Alfred Hitchcock as director, filmed on location in Monte Carlo, a winning combination to
make a movie classic. We were in high school then, and believed that there were bad guys
and good guys in this world.
In the 1960s, there was " The Thomas Crown Affair " with Fay Dunaway and Steve
McQueen. A movie with sophistication and full of sexual tension between the stars. We were
growing up and believed that dreams could come true.
Then came " Topeka", I think that is the name of this movie about stealing a
jeweled dagger in a palace in Instanbul, with Maxmillian Schell in an intriquing plot. I
don't remember what in life were we in, but I enjoyed this movie a lot.
In 1999, there is " Entrapment" with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones in a
movie along the same story line of the movies mentioned above, i.e., pulling off the big
job. With these two charming stars and filmed in Kualu Lumpur partially is a very
enjoyable movie to see. There is no one like Sean Connery to carry this movie and there is
no one lovelier than Catherine Zeat-Jones ( of Mask of Zorro fame). The beginning of this
movie is more enchanting than the ending. This movie goer would like to see a different
ending, however, more romantic and less Hollywood-ish. We are at
a stage in life that we don't believe in anything anymore, almost anything.
