Have not done a "Movie Talk" since June 6, 1999, but I have not stopped seeing
movies. Some of the movies that are worth mentioning include: "Run Lola run"
(German), "Autumn Tale" ( French), "Ideal husband" ( British),
"Red Violin"( Italian, German and Canadian).
Some of the worth mentioning American films include: "Six sense", "Double
Jeopardy" and " Three Kings".
Some of the forgettables include: " For love of the game" and " Random
hearts".
I like " Crazy in Alabama" best so far. Melanie Griffith gave a good performance
in a role perfect for her, and worthy of her best actress award fame in " Working
girl". She is helped by a number of good actors, some well-known, some unknown to
me.The most well-known one is Rod Stieger who won a best-actor award in "Pawn
Broker" and in a memorable role as Brando's brother in "On the Waterfront".
Banderas directed this film, his first.
" Crazy" is not a deep movie, everything is quite symbolic, no need to guess who
are the good guys and who are the bad guys. It is not meant to be a funny movie.
"Crazy" just makes a simpleminded person like me feel good. That is good enough
for me and that is why I have deliberately avoided "American Beauty" so far.
