My son Warren beat me in responding to Barbara's article "Aiya". Her article is
very interesting indeed. It is even more encouraging to us to have the second generation
lighters contributing articles to our Lighter Web Page. I hope we should encourage more of
our kids to do the same, expressing their opinions, observations and feelings to our web
page. By this way, our web page will become more successful. Our web master has done an
excellent job. This is what we all agree. If we don't contribute writing, how can he do
the job. A chef can not cook a dinner if he doesn't have the ingredients.
Barbara's "Aiya" reminds me of a term which was very popular
when we were in Pui-Ching. Do you guys remember the term "Lar Lay"? If you
don't, read back the 1959 Lighter Year Book and you should be able to find it.
These are part of the article about "Lar Lay".
"A" says " so and so is going to get married".
"B" responds "Lar Lay".
.Teacher : " You have to complete this exercise by the end of this
class"
Students respond "Lar Lay".
"A" says " Everybody has to pay $10. for the party"
"B" responds "Lar Lay"
"A" says "This curried beef on rice is very tasteful"
"B" responds "Lar Lay".
Do you remember these?
