Yesterday was a busy day for HK Lighters. We took the 8:45am ferry to Lammar Island ( Nam
Yar Dao ), an island we used to go with Lighters from overseas. We passed the village
where we could see tea houses, grocery shops, souvenir shops. We then started our 45
minutes up hill and down hill walking. The whole journey was an easy walking one. You
would not feel doubt because you had a beautiful sea view on your right hand side all the
way form the beginning to the end of your trip. At the end of the walking, you would see
the sea food rafts where the fishmen raised their sea food. You would feel hungry by then.
We picked one good sea food restaurant and enjoyed our sea food lunch. We then took the
2:00 pm ferry back to Hong Kong.
7:00 pm, nine of us met together at Regent Hotel in participating a welcome dinner party
for Professor Dan Tsui. There were about 8 tables. We expected that Professor Tsui would
tell us something about himself or his success. But he talked very slowly and said only
few sentences. We were told that he was tired after the long flight from US and his health
was not in a good shape. In fact and so happened, none of us in the room knew how to raise
a question to Professor Tsui. Anyway, we were happy to meet him and his wife.
I took pictures for the above two events and I would sent them to Shirley when ready. Say
before Friday, Dec. 10. So far, I have received HK$4,500.00 for the Lighters' Fund in
support of the webpage and perhaps other Lighter activities. In particular, we are
most grateful to Tony for his untiring effort in upkeeping our webpage. I shall be
receiving more fund from HK Lighters who use the Lighters' website. Each of us will give
US$200.00 or HK$1500.00. The above HK$4500 came from C.C.Luk, Pang Woo-Tong and Wong
Yue-Kai. I shall remit the fund in US currency to Shirley presently. Regards,
Guy Shuk
