Tomorrow night, Dec. 22, 1999, will be winter Solstice for those Lighters living in the northern hemisphere, or the shortest day of the year. Due to
the interactions of various heavenly bodies, we should see the largest and
brightest moon in 133 years as pointed out in James Koo's article and reported by various newspapers and programs. One news program reported that
if you live in the snow country and if it is a cloudless night, you need not turn on your headlights to drive.
This lighter thought the moon should be fairly bright last night and went outside to look at it. Yes, the moon was full, big and very bright.
Tonight should be even a better night for getting moonshine and listen to Mandolin in the moonlight.
One particular "Tang poem" we learned as kids stood out on this occasion and that is:
Moonlight upon my bed
white as frost on the ground
raise my head to view the moon
lower my head and long for my home
Lighters all around the globe, where is our home and our homeland?
