Movie talk

Many movies have come and gone during the holidays. A few still remain, even fewer are worth mentioning:

(1) Any given Sunday---An interesting, but unnecessarily intense movie. If you like football and Al Pacino, then it can be entertaining.

(2) Magnolia---An interesting and very intense movie. In the beginning, I had no glue what it was about; 5 to 6 stories unfold at the same time. As the stage was set, one began to see the genius of the director on how he story was told. It is not necessarily an entertaining movie, I did not regret seeing it however.

(3)The end of the affair---The movie is kind different from the book. The screen play intended it to be more dramatic. I am sure I agreed, but what  the hell. The movie has a twisted sense of " lust" and "love" all mingled together. It was said that the book was kind of biographical. Graham Green has been praised as the "best " writer of this century. I don't know enough about English literature to comment. I like reading his books because the sentence construction is relatively simple to understand. To me the best is Kum Yung. No one even came close. This shows how shallow I am in my taste and depth in literature. The movie is okay if one likes Julianne Moore, and I do.
