Prelude
Some two thousand years ago, we had the famous three kingdoms in central China. Many heroic and romantic stories have been written and handed down
through the generations. In recent time we may also have the situation of "The Three Kingdoms" again,
and they are Hong Kong, Taiwan and China....
Episode 2---The show girl and the Prince. Back in the old days when Marilyn Monroe was around, she made this movie
with Lawrence Olivia, entitled " The show girl and the prince". It was
about a prince from a small European kingdom, falling for this totally unassuming, but unsophisticated show girl. In the movie, the show girl
reciprocated the affection, and the movie has a happy ending. Monroe, for the first
time, was able to demonstrate that she could hold her own in the presence of great actors such as Olivia.
In the Kingdom of T, a pseudo-prince ( the illegitimate son of the
former president) also fell for a younger show girl of insignificant fame. The
show girl in question was less than admirable in her behavior in this case. She acted in
a Mrs.Tripp-like manner with respect to the affection and friendship bestowed
on her from the prince. She actually also had some kind of " blue dress" as
evidence. She "saved" the soiled bed sheet, perhaps, also for sentimental reasons. In his weak moments, he also signed a document stating that he
intended to marry her. As the story evolved further, she demanded a "silencer" consideration, but met with unexpected countermeasures. The
prince did not stone wall, but confessed in public and apologized to his wife. The ill-intended demand totally back fired.
Dear Lighters, what are possible morals of this episode of the "three kingdoms"?
(1) Do not soil anything.
(2) Do not sign anything .
(3) Do not fall for any younger and single show girls of insignificance.
(4) Do not care about worldly possession and confess immediately when caught.
(5) Do what you want, but do not get caught.
(6) Remember what Ben Franklin said " compromise a single woman".
And so, dear lighters, Rumbling the mighty Long River flows east
washing all heroic and adventurous deeds into the sea.....
