Happy new year.
Catching up with a lot of things. There are certainly many benefits by
having the e-system. For example I am now in constant touch with James
Koo in the Bay Area because I have friends here who are very interested in
the Dr. W. H. Lee case and James is an organizer there.
I enjoy the "Three Kingdoms" very much. In fact, it contains the same
kind of wisdom that is finally expressed eloquently by Mr. Lee Ngo in his
interview, another plus that the Lighters site provided. While I normally
do not think one should bring political issues to the site for PC
classmates, but this one by CC Look is an exception alright.
In fact, a lot of the issues and positions he takes are similar to what
I've been thinking and with his authoritative confirmation, now he is the man.
By the way, I don't think the author of "Three Kindoms" should be so
modest to call him or herself as "salty and wet", unless he or she is
implying being seasoned or like the Cantonese saying " dipped in salty
water" (educated). Is this person's identity so secret or should the
entire class start to play this guessing game. That's it, set up a prize
and you or Tony should know who sent the messages and pick a date to
announce who guess right. Something to keep the site active now that the
reunion came and gone.
Talking about reunion, the Class of 1960 one is shaping up. We are also
going to cruise the Aegean Sea uncept no more land tour to "immerse" in
the Greek culture like we did in sweat. Just a 7 days including 2 days in
Athens. Any Lighters who missed the last tour or friends of PC are
welcome to join us. The date is August 13 to 21 to and from Toronto.
Gina is helping us to organize also.
Seriously, any interested party should contact Gina whom I assume you all
have her phone, fax and e-address, for details. We have only 40 or so
confirmed and like to make it to 50. SS, I heard you like Santorini very
much?
Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the message, very nice to hear from you. I was talking to Lai Ming-Sai ( one of the chinks---no punt intended), and
encourage him to join in the 1960 cruise. Did he sign up? I suggested to him that the places to visit or the cruise are only
secondary, it is really the fellowship of the classmates that matter the most
I did like Santorini a lot except for the smell, and thank you very much for your invitation.
In reading the "Lee-Ngo" article (provided by Pan Woon-tong), I was truly amused. Lee always strikes me as a rebel with a cause ( punt intended), and
always have a rather refreshing set of perspectives.
I do not believe there is any political issues to settle in any of the
"Three Kingdoms" episodes. The author, I believe, intends them to be satires. Only Tony can tell us the true identity of the author.
In the case of W.H. Lee, I think one should also consider the case of the former CIA director who downloaded files at the office and brought them
home, now even I know about this. I am sure you have seen "60 minutes" tonight about a young Jewish man being prosecuted for passing information
to the Israel. In the game of espionage, everyone is a suspect.
Why do Asians assume that we are different? Surely all of us have heard of
the saying "a gentleman does not stand near a falling wall". In W.H. Lee 's case, it is difficult to understand why he would want to
stand near such a wall. His family and friends have suffered a great deal for some inexplicable deeds. In the words of "Lee Ngo", this particular Lee
is "nuts".
Enough of this, and I am sure I have caused sufficient amount of outrage among the Lighters, a great deal of articles will written about it and get
uploaded.
Best wishes of the year of the Dragon.--ss Lau
