I was born in love with you

SSLau

This is not about a romantic episode nor a colorful escapade, it is about a compact disc, entitled " I was born in love with you", by Jessye Norman, rising opera singer, and Michel Legrand, a French composer of " Windmillsof my mind" fame. He was on the piano with Norman in this performance.

After reading " Till I hold you in my arms again", this lighter turned nostalgic. Started looking for old romantic songs to listen to, and happened to read a Time magazine music review on this cd. Granted "Time" is often tangential in movie reviews to my way of looking at movies, but what the hell, nothing ventured nothing gained. Waiting for it to arrive at the local music store with mounting anticipation, finally it came.

The cd is loaded with bittersweet jazz songs, most of them carry a familiar tune to us. There is something to be said about an opera singer singing jazz. I would say I got totally wasted away by her songs, if you what I mean.

This cd can best be enjoyed in the deep of the night, the player volume low, with a cup of strong, hot coffee and an unlimited supply of Cognac. Decadence does have its rewards.
