Mid-life crisis for Over-The-Hill

S.S

Boy, you guys are having mid-life crisis or what? The Lighters' web getting more like a chat room for the pre-retirement home candidates.

One article is exposing the writer's lost chance in this youth. Remembering every details of that little "red hair girl" a la Peanuts. In fact, the article looks very much like a chapter he is attempting to write in his memoir suitably titled after Willy Nelson's "to all the girls I loved before".

Then you sir, the ivory tower dweller, is tempting our poor heart with partially clogged artery to pound for rekindled romance, real or fantasized. Not to mention the risk of coming up with a good explanation to our wives for what are we trying to do in this late night congac sipping, low light and low volume listening "decadent" mood. Hey, may be its safer if we can  listen to this CD with the headphone.

Anyway, I like Michel Legrand's music. That bring up another great movie music composer of the 60's beside Henry Mancini. Do you remember the "A Man and A Women" theme ? Its by another French song writer for movies who name I remember because its sounds like Chinese, Francis Lai. I happen to have their LPs in my collection. Just to share movie info with another aficionado , I also have all Frederico Felini's sound tracks composed by Nino Rota. Too bad we live in different towns otherwise we can have so much nostalgic fun - another sign of old age.

Dennis

Dennis,

I think it is way too kind to say that the Lighters are having mid-life crises. We have long past mid-life. I hope we have been reborn after the Toronto reunion. It sure feels that way.

However, the possibility exists that there was NO " red hair girl". It may just be a completely fictional story to commemorate " Valentine's day". I believe this was the intention of the author. The timing appears to be right.

You know your music and composers, far more than I do. I always thought Francis Lai was Chinese. it shows how little I know.

In this mid-night music and cognoc party, invite your wife along, no need to justify anymore. Or call her to say you have to work late if you have not used this excuse too often before, it might just work. Hope you'll write a review on " Not One Less". ---ss
