The Skulls
The Skulls' plot was very clear and straight. It's about a secret society in an Ivy League school. In the movie, it's Yale. There was some suspense but the reason why the intruder who tried to investigate The Skulls' lair got killed was easy to understand. The part I concentrated most was The Skulls was filmed in my city, Toronto. Most of the scenes were filmed in my alma mater, University of Toronto. Some buildings at U of T do resemble older buildings with a lot of history in an older Ivy League school like Yale or Harvard. A funeral scene was filmed in the same U of T chapel where my U of T friends got married in. It's worth to watch The Skulls, because of the straightforward plot and makes sense too. Rembember this in the movie: "We live by the rules and we die by the rules".
Romeo Must Die
This is the first North American movie Jet Li becomes the main star. The plot is very complex as one Chinese family gang rivals against a black family gang. Jet Li is the Romeo part when he accidently picks up the daughter of the black gang leader and of course the black gang members pick on Jet Li. The kung fu was spectacular, same amount of kung fu in a Jackie Chan movie. Kung fu special effects include the part when they show like an x-ray internal part of body gets shattered. The only good thing is the kung fu action but the plot is kind of hard for me to understand even as a university graduate about why they rival against each other.
