Dear Peter,
Thank you for your kind words. On the subject of A War-May-Be between China
and Taiwan, I like to fill you some facts recently took place. They are:
1. Military Movement in Fujien and the coast In the last month
and half, there is quite a large scale of military movement in the coastal
area. If Shun Kai knew, many people in China knew too.
2. Forecast of war A field commander in China said the war may take about two weeks. At the first week, both side suffer a big loss.
China will win at the second week.
3. Will USA and Japan take any action? Most likely no action,
but a lot of warning to China.
4. Who want to fight, Chinese people, army, or the Government of China It seems all want to fight, but the Government wants the least.
5. Is a war blind? Definitely. China needs a war to even out the
odd domestically, but not so internationally.
6. How about Taiwan? Taiwan needs time to sort out the home
matters and wants to drag on. China like to take this opportunity to make a
decision.
7. Where is the tale-tell? There will be some sign before the
war took place? Please let me know, my friends!
8. What happen to Hong Kong then? The stock market will come down
significantly. Flights to Taiwan are cancelled. Etc.and etc.
9. What about the peace talk between North and South Korea?
Surprisingly, both USA and Japan reversed their policy by allowing the forthcoming unification of Korea.
10. What does the Chinese president do in his world round trip after
Chu's warning to Taiwan? Before HK was returned to China, the president of China did the same thing by
traveling to all major countries.
china needs their support.
11. What else?
Now, folks, what's the next?
Tse shun Kai
You cannot be too busy now if you are worrying about the atmosphere between China and Taiwan.
On that subject, I do have an opinion. Last evening, we went to see the
movie 'The Emperor and the Assassin.' You know the Chinese movie about
Emperor Qin and Jing Or. It is the first Chinese movie that I had seen in
forty years. Of course, I like Gong Li. She is an angel. But she is not the
subject of this email. As portrait in the movie, the Emperor and his ancestor were obsessed with
the idea of a united China. In the end, he succeeded at a fantastic cost of
human misery. His kingdom lasted a total of fifteen years. Was it worthwhile? In my opinion, the answer is clearly no since his effort in no
way advanced the cause of civilization or improved the life of its citizens.
It even did little to glorify the Emperor's ancestor or his heir. It was all
for nothing.
Would there be a war between China and Taiwan? I don't know and certainly
hope not. For those advocating such a measure, they should study history and
not to repeat its mistakes. Say hello to Shirley. We missed you in Toronto last year.
Peter.
