Movie Talk

Gladiator

It's a classic main character got framed kind of movie but in Roman times. The plot was simple and right to the point. The issue of the movie got resolved once and for all at the end of the movie. Russell Crowe played the main character real well.

Maximus (played by Russell Crowe), the greatest Roman general who led the Roman conquest of Northern Europe (i.e. Germania or now Germany) was framed for the murder of the Caesar, but really the son did it, because the son was ticked off that his father picked Maximus to succeed as Emperor. Maximus was supposed to be executed for the murder but escaped. He fought his way back by being a gladiator, who are supposed to get killed in competition against fierce warriors in front of the Roman crowds at the Colesium. You would feel like cheering when Maximus sliced his enemy with the sword. Maximus kept winning and won the approval of the crowd. Even as a gladiator, Maximus defied the son, who is Emperor. Even when the son ordered Maximus to do the final kill of his opponent and he refused. Maximus was courageous there. The crowds loved him to a point where the son should be dethroned. The son was filled with guilt during the whole movie. The final battle is appropriately !
a one on one confrontation between Maximus and you know who to finally bring justice to the murder of the Caesar. At the end, I think things got resolved once and for all. I think Gladiator is worth to watch in the theatre.
