Legend of the three Kingdoms
Episode 6
The sword is blunt on both sides.

The wet and salty story teller

In recent month, our beloved HK CEO Tung, has been under severe attacks from all sides, hence becoming our "former" beloved HK CEO.  In defense of Mr. Tung, he really does not deserve any of of this and  certainly does not need any of this.

You see, he is but a fake CEO. There are many many decisions he has made, is making and will have made are not his and his alone. There  is a Don back in Sicily calling all the shots. Tung is only a fall guy. So why blame him for the faults he is not responsible ?

Well, HK residents are very smart people. They know they cannot  afford to offend THE DON in Sicily. They are quite happy to let the the fall guy have it. The fall guy is there for this purpose to begin with, so why not take advantage of the situation? This way the frustration of the people can be vented through a safety valve, installed for this purpose and this purpose alone. How very very cleaver of the THE DON and how very very courageous of Mr. Tung to take on this "assignment". This has to be a trick designed by Hung
Ming back in the three Kingdoms period a thousand year ago.

To blame Mr. Tung for a job badly done is similar to blaming the deeds of Wong Ching -Wai who headed a government under Japanese occupation 60 some years ago. In many practical situations of decision making, Mr. Tung and Mr. Wong are in the same boat, although Mr. Tung is publicly consecrated a hero, Mr. Wong declared a traitor. They are not their own man, period. You know it, he knows it, yet Mr. Tung is willing to be the CEO. Why, purely to serve the people of HK  and become a benign buffer between THE DON and the people of HK. Mr. Tung is a sword that does not and cannot cut on either side. It is a lose-lose situation for him.

In the small Village across the ocean, the chief is disliked and,
perhaps, even hated by almost everyone, in spite of many years of unprecedented prosperity under his administration. The Republicans dislike him because the chief's indiscretion, at least that is what they proclaim, even the republicans made a killing in the stock market and made them many times richer in the last 7 years. They openly hate him, but secretly love him because he is the fall guy, and are very very happy that he got caught. The democrats dislike like him because he got caught, even the democrats also made a lot money in the stock market, but secretly love him because he has shown the republicans and that a liberal and pro-labor chief can bring
prosperity more than any republican chiefs in recent Village history.

The Village men openly hate the chief because he appears to be the only one getting some, but secretly love him because at least some man is having fun. The Village women openly hate the chief because he did not choose them to be the favored ones, but secretly love him because they know that real power is still held by women as long as the chief is around.

The Village children are taught to hate him because the chief did not set a good example. The Village boys secretly love him because the boys want to be a "free-spirit" just like him. The Village girls secretly love him even more, because the chief is " cute" and he showed them that boys can be manipulated by " favors" a little at a time and how to draw them in and hook them for good. The chief is, in fact, setting the best example since Adam.

One can see that a person hated by all in public, can be admired by all in private.

We will need Mr. Tung around to be the fall guy, a saint to be blamed by everyone while in "power"---more or less.

Let us hope Mr. Tung survives the attacks. Mr. Tung will be dearly missed if and when he is out, and if and when the THE DON comes over from Sicily to take control.

Lets all sing " God save CEO Tung", and hope for the best.

And so, dear lighters, Rumbling the mighty Long River flows east. Washing all heroic deeds
into the sea......
