Thanks to S.S.'s efforts, the missing Man was found. I was to call this article "Return of the Man" but changed to the present title for the
following reason: When we were at Illinois and prior to Carl's moving to
the fraternity house, I loaned him a Metz flashlight unit for taking
pictures in low light. He took it with him to the frat house, and told me
to pick it up there after many months. He then threw it away with pomp
and circumstance into a garbage can with his brothers watching. If anyone
fits to be labeled a prodigal son, Carl fits it quite well. I and Desmond
have our opinion almost 180 degrees to Charles Kao's. S.S. is neutral if
not counting the blank pages reserved for Carl and others in the first
year-book. Although it has been years since that incident, I just can't
bring myself to forget and forgive. I'll risk being not divine to tell
the lighters this old account. All lighters can be the judge. James Koo
was a short-time lighter but impressed Carl a lot with his start-up company. I don't see how anyone can mix-up James and S.S. in
couple short e-mail exchanges. WE are getting old, but no way to be President Reagan
yet.
If Tony and S.S. want to exercise their editorial prerogative and do
something diplomatic about this chit chat, please do. I don't want to be the one that rocks the boat to loose the Man again.
Bob, like it or not, you did it. I am not the one to edit
you article. You see. Ha Ha.----Tony
