Just got myself a DVD player before the Thanksgiving weekend and my very first disc is the "Gladiator" which is a very good movie for the DVD effects. Enjoyed it even more after viewing the second disc with all the goodies including the "from the cutting room floor" sections either too bloody or too long to tell the story.
Then, on Saturday, stopped by Hollywood Video to see what cheapies (previously viewed) DVD are available to "collect". Since I only look for movies with lots of special effects or worth viewing many times over, I passed up many good release.
Another reason is that I already got the VHS tapes such as " the Rock", "Independence Day", "T-2" etc. Then I saw this si fi called "Mission to Mar".
What a disappointment. With good actors like Tim Robbins and others, its the most unscientific si fi I have ever saw in recent years. The Aliens sequels at least have Sigoney Weaver to watch. What worst is the attitude of the "astronauts" and "scientists" in the movie behave worst than the
neighborhood newspaper boys with no discipline, no respect of assignments, no acceptable reaction during emergencies.
Its must be made for school kids.
That brings out the big issue. The "Florida recount". I am so amazed that a bunch of highly paid officials in the number one
powerful nation on earth failed to determine the votes. Must be the national dummy down effect got spread from the mass
media that has been feeding the youth now reached the general population.
