Movie TalkGarrick Lau In so far as I am quite familiar with SS Lau's fondness for movies (read: he is my father), I would submit that another great movie of all time focuses on the all important decision of leaving home to continue down the road of Life. This must surely be considered one of life's more momentous events, since it carries tremendous weight in determining the future development of an individual. As such, I consider American Graffiti to be one of my "All time favorite" movies. Centering on two young men and their last, long night before leaving home for college, this collaborative effort between Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas featured such actors as Ron Howard, Rich Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams, Paul LeMat, and Charles Martin Smith. Be watchful for the appearances of HARRISON FORD and Suzanne Somers in the roles that would eventually elevate one as a great acting talent and the other as a sex symbol (I'll let you make your own decision here.) In determining the greatness of a movie, one must ask oneself, "How many times can I watch this movie and never get bored with it?" Anyone who appreciates the nuances of American Graffiti already knows the answer to this question. Garrick Lau P.S. I think the Great Escape is a great movie, too |
