M G M - MARCH GENERAL MEETING

Reunion

Planet Hollywood (a franchise restaurant located at Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon ) is down in HK but Lighters' activities are going strong.
Pang Woon-Tong , our Lighters President took the opportunity to hold a gathering at Yau Yat Chuen Garden Club on 2002.3.20 while Lee K. King (B2) stopping-over in HK. Brief report as follows:-

(1) Appetizer

"Mouth watering" 8 dishes fit well to the reduced waistline of Lai Cheung-Kwan(B31) whose waistline has been reduced by 4 inches after his harsh training on "xx martial art".

(2) Main Course
Ear jamming discussion of Falun Gong (FG) went on for a long time then back to Lighters business.
a) Appointing Gina Mok (A7) as Honorary Advisor of the 2002 Reunion.
b) Encouraging overseas and local Lighters to respond to the Reunion.
c) Pui Ching Middle School's title and logo dispute
d) Inviting Lighters' former Teacher(s) to the Reunion
e) Lamb cutlets in Cantonese style served with broccoli.

(3) Desert --傳閱周時雍高三手冊

"Sweet Tooth" lovers delight the Middle Senior 3 Handbook as presented by Chow See- Yung (D11). If Ng Mak-Tong 麥芽糖 (A14) could join us here, the sugar content would increase up to 75% as he was named "HONEY" by Pui Ching students.

(4) What is Cooking?

1. Lai Cheung-Kwan showed the 4 inches gap of his waistline as a result of his practice in Falun Gong. Upholding the principle of True, Kind-hearted and Forbearance, it would lift our spirit far beyond heaven. It would make sense if you could come up to that state of mind.

2. a) The above appointment of Gina Mok met the request of opposite gender in the Steering Committee.
b) Chang Kwan-Chow (D15) was the first Lighter to register the Reunion.
c) Luk Chi-Ching gave a brief story of the dispute in respect of the title and logo of Pui Ching Middle School. Pang Woon-Tong anticipated more Lighters' views to the website for this topical issue. Chow See-Yung wondered who could claim to be the legal owner of the title.
d) Peter Sun B.T. (B9) recommended that former Teacher(s) could take part in the Reunion Gala Dinner. Such expenses could be charged to the function cost.
e) If you fall asleep reading this report, it had nothing to do with "Mary had a little lamb".

3. Chow See-Yung's class Teacher was Mui Shou Wai. Chow's highest score being the biblical knowledge of 86 marks. Lee K King recalled that Cheng Leepo (C32) could be the forerunner of "Equal Opportunity"( 平等機會 ) in 1959.

5) Side Dishes

a) Chang Cheuk-Lap, Charles (D14) flashed new light on "Religious Sect"( 宗教團体 ) and expressed as follow:- Quoted "-----the Tsim Sha Tsui Baptist church has a target of over 1.2 Million HK$ last year to build and rebuild 3 churches in Siu Hang, Hoi Fung & Guong Ning (west of Guong Dong Provence, near Guong See). I personally went to the 3 sites and hopefully go again next year to see the 3 new churches, I had seen slides of over 15 new churches located around the coastal areas of Goung Dong and Fook Gean, sponsored and built by HK Baptist christians, retired, rich and famous. So if you are preaching the God's word in a low profile and follow their rules and regulations, there are always welcoming arms." Unquoted.
b) Lai Cheung-Kwan passed around some photos of his son's wedding banquet on 2000.4.6.
We also got the photo of Torch Passing Ceremony held at Pui Ching on 1999.11.9.
c) About 10 years ago, Chow See-Yung met Man Chau, Carl's (C35) father at Shing Mun Reservoir, Kowloon. We do appreciate Man Chau will turn up in the Reunion.
d) Quoted from the press, the Falun Gong has been part of the "Shau Lin Chee-Ku's martial arts " ( 少林氣功 ). But someone uses the FG as a tool for political purposes. It is nothing wrong to learn and exercise FG. This exercise gives us good health as long as we do not wear the yellowish clothing and spread out political activities when exercising. In mainland China, you can see hundred and thousands of people doing the "Tai-Chi" early in the morning at the parks, yet you don't see any restriction or problem by doing such.
e) Lee K King presented the Canadian Year of Horse stamps, designed by a Chinese artist, to us. Group photos were taken at the later stage. Indeed everyone enjoyed the good food and was happy with the Canadian Chinese New Year present.
f) The magnificent 11 Lighters in this meeting were well above the cowboy movie of "The Magnificent 7" in the '50s. Thank you again for Pang WT's arranging for such a memorable evening.
