Tse Shun Kai has retuned from his month long retirement cruise" to England, and suggested we have a meeting review the present global and lighter situation," and
it is time to assess Moon Loon" and Tsing Si" aspects of our November gathering."
So the HK reunion committee met, and invited a few foreign visitors" from the other side of Pacific pond happen to be in HK to get their inputs. Most of them suggested we should have
seminars" to re-acquaint those foreign" Lighters about current viewpoints (like towards Falun Gong), attitudes, and life styles of Hong Kong people-including
modern" colloquium Cantonese are of vital interest to them.
The reunion committee duly notes these foreign" interests. Actually the reunion committee has taken all these valuable suggestions to heart. Earlier Peter Tong suggested we should have the participation of the fair sex. At this meeting, 50% of the participants are female. Should we adopt his suggestion any better; we would have them as majority-or 陰盛陽衰, the common phenomena in schools in this part of the world.
Talk about Peter Tong, I regret that Connie has passed away. I met her the last time about two years ago when they came to visit California, what a lovely couple. It is unbelievable that all of a sudden, she is no longer with us. However, together with Peter, Connie reviewed many of my submissions to the Lighters website. My article in the 40th reunion yearbook bears her legacy as Connie made valuable suggestions and significant modifications.
While I grieve about Connie's passing away, I would like to urge Peter to enjoy life and fill his life with happiness. I am sure this is what Connie would like Peter to do and to have. Like Brazilians, I believe the ever-loving God created man to enjoy life in this world. Would Connie want anything less for Peter?
We should all try to find happiness and enjoy life. In the past three years, three events made me most happy; the 40th reunion, my meeting with the girl sat next to me in grade school in Shanghai, and my daughter's marriage. I long anticipated each, savored every moment while they happened, and am thankful that I should be so lucky that they happened. Two out the three happiest occasions are when I met with long lost old friends and acquaintances. I believe you probably would feel the same. So come to HK reunion and meet with your fellow Lighters. I am sure you will be happy and enjoy the life in HK. See you in Hong Kong!
