Bay to Breakers fun walk / race Part I.

What is Bay to Breakers

Bay refers to San Francisco Bay. Breakers refer to the waves of Pacific Ocean pounding on the west side of SF. SF situates between SF Bay and Pacific Ocean. San Francisco developed early from the Bay side, where Downtown San Francisco is nowadays. The west side is occupied by Golden Gate Park and Sunset District. Bay to Breakers is an annual foot race from San Francisco Bay to the coast of Pacific Ocean. On the race day morning, held annually on the third Sunday of May (May 16, 2004), streets running from Down Town SF to the ocean side through Golden Gate Park are closed to allow tens of thousands of walkers and runners to complete the trek, enjoying the freedom of walking

on the city streets free of traffic and getting a closer looking at the city.
