Movie talk

"Palmetto"--- It wants to be "The Big Sleep" or "The Long Goodbye" , or even " Body Heat". It failed. In spite of its failings, it may be a reasonable time killer for someone who has time to kill.

" Mrs. Dalloway"--- Here we are, watching a movie based on a Virginia Woolf story. It is the type of movie made for the English by the English. I have nothing against this type of movie or the English, in fact they left a reasonably healthy infrastructure in Hong Kong for self-governing, if left alone. This movie is just a little too English for most non-english audience. On the other hand, there is a certain degree of resonance for me. It is about old friends coming back into one's life after many years of incommunicado. We all have this kind of experience. I enjoyed watching this movie, but probably will not seek it out to watch it again.
