A total of 40 secondary schools have entered the 20th Hong Kong Mathematics Olympiad (HKMO) Final to be held in March by the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) and the Department of Mathematics of the Hong Kong Institute of Education.

The schools were among some 250 secondary schools delegating over 1,400 students to participate in the Heat of HKMO.

"Held for the 20th straight year, HKMO aims at promoting mathematics education in Hong Kong," an EMB spokesman said today (February 16).

"The schools were each allowed to send a team comprising four to six students at Secondary Four or below to take part in the Heat. In both the Individual Event and the Group Event, participating students and teams were all required to tackle a set of 10 questions."
