There are quite a few new movies out in tune with the soon-to-arrive holiday
season. This movie goer has seen a number of them, some good some bad, as
usual.
Three are mentioned here:
(1) Mystic River... A heavy duty film, and more impressionable ( to this
writer) than the book on account of the fine performance of all the main
characters. It is just a little too heavy for this movie watcher to want to
see it again, at least not for a long time.
(2) Love actually... This movie is probably too silly for serious movie
watchers to see . This writer went away with a smile on his face, and does
not mind seeing it again. Why? because one can feel good after the movie. To
this writer, it is what movies are all about, spending an enjoyable time at
the theater.
(3) Human stain... This movie appears to be about an old college professor
having an affair with a 34 years old young woman, so one is led to believe
on the outset --- NOT SO. It has a much more serious undertone than a silly
old man having a fling with the urge to feel or to feel young again. The
film is not major studio production, but with major actors of our time
in the production
