Today, it is February 16 (Presidents Day in USA); and exactly 3 months later, it will be the day of fun (Day-to-Breakers run/walk in San Francisco – from San Francisco Bay to Pacific Ocean).

The Lighters in San Francisco Bay Area has been working together in forming a get together project with activities that are fun to our mind and healthy to our worn-out bodies. Day-to-Breakers is an annual event which features a 7.46 miles run for the serious ones and a walk for the not-so-serious, young-at-heart persons. During our weekly coffee get together at Mountain View last summer, several of us had decided to join together in participating this event for the reason to promote ourselves to exercise more often. Thus, we formed a monthly walk on those trails around this area and happily to report that we have reached our distance training goal of 7 plus miles last weekend. For more information on the Bay-to-Breakers run/walk, please visit Bay To Breakers and in addition, for the description of our activities around this event, please visit www.geocities.com/lighterpc/talk533.html.

At the beginning of February, we started our head count process so that we can commence our preparations in detail. However, we do want to share this opportunity with the Lighters worldwide. Anyone wishes to join us is a blessing to our effort and very much welcome by all of us in this area. For signing up events or additional information, please contact Ben Chinbong   Tony Kwok  or  Danny Yeung  the registrar.

By the way, some of our Lighters worldwide are betting Walter Mok to run the whole course in less than 60 minutes and all proceeds (over $1,200 in pledges so far) will go into Lighters’ Fund which will be used in the benefit of Lighters’ activities and web site expenses. Please contact S.S. Lau (lau@ece.ucsd.edu) for more information on this endeavor.

Please consult the attached  for WHO, WHERE, WHAT, WHEN and HOW in relating to the events.

Thank you.
