Chit-Chat # 50
Foot- notes to ual55's mock Book & Sword a la Kum Yung

Bobby Chen with EHMP

It has been quite awhile since I last wrote a Chit-Chat # 50. Lately, S.S. wrote a series on the young great helmsman after Kum Yung's Book & Sword. The Chinese words, and Shanghainese dialects were very good. It can said as " moo duk tam" (not to be criticized). As for the contents, whether it is fiction or non-fiction, I leave lighters to judge. I, myself, am flattered if the readers think it is the latter. S.S.'s knowledge on women's fashion can rival Ms. Lee-Wah-Ling, a graduate of Hong Kong Baptist College, famous author, editor, etc. The clothing he described in part two on Lucy was truly in fashion, and trendy. My only objection was he should include at least one non-white designer in the long list of names, say Issey Miyaki. May be just a scarf, or a blouse. In part three, the finger food, cognac, coffee are all beyond my current standards for quality of life. I am less fortunate than most lighters with one long drawn-out divorce. I am still working for a pay-check with no retirement in sight. On this subject, Peter Tong's New alphabets caught me in three places: E for eye sight, last year DMV notified me to go in person for the driver license renewal, claiming that I renewed by mail 12 years already. For drivers over 60, they want to check his or her vision. Sure enough, my left eye was too weak, 20/100. The ophthalmologist was on vacation, and the optometrist filled out the form for me with the one year box checked. Now I'm due to renew the driver's license again. I went to the ophthalmologist, and he found left eye central vision was bad due to macular hole/degeneration. The two year box is checked with the macular degeneration entered as "1" or mild. He thinks DMV might give me four years for my extra trips in the two years. I hope I'll get at least two years. H for high blood pressure. I got the high number 170 (too high), and low number 65 to 70 (ok). Any suggestion to lower the high number? In high cycle fatigue, a large delta pressure (i.e., high -low) is bad. I am taking pills, going to the gym three times a week already. James Koo is quite slim, any hints for me? M for memory does not applied to me, but macular degeneration does. P for psoriasis. My skin problem came back after I used up the medicine from Shanghai, and oil from Hawaii. I hope my fellow lighters will forgive me in burdening you all about my left eye, high blood pressure and skin problem. I'll try to write more pleasant topics next time.
