Lost in Space

Warren Li

Today, I watched Lost in Space and I thought overall it was okay. It contained excellent special effects and a well-defined story line so that a kid can understand. You see it's the space version of Swiss Family Robinson. This movie has a more family theme to it than the 60's TV show version since they protray our family relationship problems.

I have 2 criticisms:

1) I can not understand the bad guy's motive and his relationship with his boss bad guy. The bad guy does not get killed yet he mostly hangs around with the lost Robinson family in space. I think the bad guy is a total wimp anyway.

2) Matt LeBlanc of Friends playing the pilot does not reflect his real character as a comedian. He is simply out of place in this movie. I guess the popularity of
the TV show, Friends got him the job in this movie.

The story is simple but the details can make you get lost like Robinson Crusoe (ie. no relation to the Robinson family lost in space). For sure, there will be a sequel. It's worth to watch Lost in Space at theatres only.
