Definitely, it's better than the first Species movie, but this time more action and
scarier special effects, ie. when they show the alien side of the characters. This movie
has a straightforward plot: Astronauts landed on Mars to pick up soil samples but the
samples popped out and alien substances infected them, thus adversely affecting their
lives back on earth.
In terms of suspense, it was gut wrenching literally. As always, alien body parts stick
out even at the most inopportune time. One of the astronaut heroes hugged his dad and
alien body parts stabbed the dad and mind you that was unintentional after he accepted the
dad's offer to get some medical help.
It takes stupidity from the astronaut hero to get this story going. When he was given
quarantine orders to not have sex on earth and he still does that even
before the heroes' gala. You need that type of problem or else why bother make this movie.
The movie emphasizes too much on the sex part and that's when all the alien action
happens. I found it too overwhelming for me to grasp. It is strongly
recommended that not even teenagers should watch this movie, let alone me. In conclusion,
the theme is really alien sex and that's it.
For sure, there is going to be a sequel in the Species series. So stay tuned.
