Movie TalkMay 17,1998 S.S.lau "Les Miserables"--- You can skip this one, and it may not be a big loss. The horse Whisperer"--- You should not miss this one, if you like movies. Just the scenic beauty of Montana shown in this movie is worth the time. As you may know this movie is based on a best-seller; directed by and starring Robert Redford. It is a story between a horse, a teenage girl, and a man who knows about horses ( a western Bai Lok). There is also the story between a woman and a man in this movie, which I think is not essential and gets into the way of the movie.LA Times thinks there is "Considerable amount of impressive work " in this movie, I think it is not long enough. In the movie, there is this question posed to one of the main characters---how long can one stand this kind of natural beauty ( in Montana) and not miss city life. I don't know if I knew the answer for myself. During my youth, I don't think I could live in Montana. At my present age I am not so sure. ( I don't mean to live there as a rancher, but to live) .Ivan Choi ( vegetable worm) lived in Montana for a few years and he lives in Thailand currently. The difference, I imagine, is between day and night ( I am saying which is which). It sure would be interesting to hear his opinion |
