50th anniversary fund raising

Dear fellow Lighters,

Last year at the Thanksgiving time we sent you a letter urging you to give money to our alma mater, using the 50th anniversary reunion as the triggering point to give. Many lighters have donated generously and thus far we have funds to 1. Give to the elementary school, 2. Give to the high school, 3. Give to the Pui Ching Alumni (could be a very small portion) and 4. Give to the operating fund for the reunion. We would like to report to you that all the funds we collected are far from what we targeted. But judging from the economic situation in 2008, I would say we are doing a good job. Thank you.

We still have one more month to go before we meet in Hong Kong. We would like to take this time to ask you to give in case you have not done so. We are all approaching 70 years old and we are thankful we can still give. The old saying “we cannot bring it with us” is quite true; why not give something to the younger generation in our school before we cannot give any more? Your give goes a long way. Please put aside the differences and opinions; bring ourselves back to the age where we were still in Pui Ching. Wouldn’t we appreciate it when we enjoyed special training, extra-curriculum activities and better facilities then, knowing someone thought of us and shared some of their hard-earned money with us?
