A moment of sharing with Lighters, at Asian Pearl, Fremont, California

September 19, 2010
Walter Mok

“Fat Chicken”, our venerable expert in Chinese Architecture stopped over SF Bay area. Ching Bong, the dedicated event director of Lighter in the SF Bay hosted a dinner at Asian Pearl. “White power Taoist”, “A Jai”, “The son of Buddha” and “MYW” flocked to hear the wisdom from the “Fat Chicken” Here they are:

1. Wong South Hong died of constipation. His problem was not discovered early enough and treatment was delayed to the point that fetes burst open the colon.

Constipation could be prevented 1.by taking food with a lot of dietary fiber such as vegetable, fruit and oak meal as breakfast. 2. Do not resist the urge to move your bowels because you are too busy. Establish a regular bowels schedule. 3. Do not use laxatives regularly, that would eventually make your bowels inactive.

The danger of constipation: the toxin would be absorbed by the intestine and poison our digestive system. (Source: The AMA Encyclopedia of Medicine for more details, or visit AMA web site)

Would our certified physician comment further on this?

2. “Everyday, I am still searching for the meaning of life” An ex-CEO living in a retirement home at Carmel, Monterey Bay, murmured to “Fat Chicken”’ear.

Fat Chicken told a story of how a Buddhist monk searched for the same answer tow thousand years ago. At last the revelation came after returning from thousands of miles of traveling over China and asking the same questions to thousands. “Live this moment of Life”.

Comment: “Live not yesterday nor tomorrow, but to day” (Shakespeare)

3. “The sage loves wealth, obtain it with Tao and use it with Tao”. (Analects of Confucius) This was the quote used by Li Ka Shing.

4. The Bay area Lighter urges every Lighters over 50 to have a Colonoscopy examination to avert potential colon cancer.

Colonoscopy is used to investigate symptoms ( such as bleeding from the bowel) and to look for disorders of the colon, such as colitis, polyps (small, benign, grape like growths), and cancer. This is one of the crucial examinations to discover early stage potential cancerous tumor in the Colon. Once the physician found the polyps, they can use a clip to snip it off without any pain. Source: AMA encyclopedia of Medicine. Our Lighter, David Lin, M.D. is a specialist in gastroenterology. If you have any question, please seek advice form him.

5. The fountain of youth has its spring from sweating everyday to get rid of the toxin in the body.

6. We briefly got into the subject of educating a young mind, personal sport for self- discipline physical and mental health, team-sport for working with people, arts, science, social science and medicine for broadening the scope of life. The son of Buddha added one very important item, learning to maintain a “Financial health”. Bravo!

MYW missed the details of other discussions, while he was away from the table. Would appreciate our attendees to fill in the missing topics of discussion. “A Jai” was hot on the trail of USA politics.
